About Matthew Houlberg

I grew up in the South Downs, just north of Portsmouth. I've always enjoyed sport, tennis, cricket, running, hockey, rugby, football and I found cycling at a young age too, cycling through the countryside with my Dad. I only started racing from 14 and I was always getting pushed about because I was small, but over the years I learnt how to hold my own and use my size to my advantage.

My first club was Portsmouth North End Cycling Club; where with fantastic support and community my passion for cycling and racing was ignited. I learnt lots about cycling, from skills to managing efforts and surviving whilst on the bike through all conditions.

I am now riding for Meudon Pedal Heaven Le Col RT; I joined after my last race in 2019. Here it's about achieving great results and learning how to race at the highest level in the UK.
